Coaching is not just for athletes

By Bob Howie

Do you feel that there must be more to life but you’re not sure how to get it?

Do you feel unhappy at work; want more from your relationship; feel stressed; lack confidence in yourself; have recurring money problems? Have you given up on your dreams and settled for the consolation prize in your career, your relationships or your life?

If you recognize that any of these apply to you then seeing a life coach might just be the best thing you can do for yourself.

From time to time, each of us needs someone to bounce ideas off, to encourage us, to help formulate a life plan, someone to help us notice things about ourselves that we don’t recognize, or to just listen without judging. A life coach can fulfil that need. Your coach will have an investment in your life based on a professional relationship. He or she will believe in you totally, take your desires seriously and feed your self-belief so it will flourish. Your life coach will work with you to create your ideal life.

Life coaching is not the same as counselling or therapy. If you need a professional therapist you don’t need a life coach. Coaches are generally not interested in looking backwards and focussing on what hasn’t worked or things that have been painful. Coaching moves people forward fast and easily.

People choose to hire a life coach to create change and improvement in their lives, to clarify goals, rediscover and fulfil dreams, get a better job or a promotion, achieve a more balanced life, create better relationships, improve their financial situation, improve self-confidence or appearance, discover their life’s work, reduce and manage stress, and simply to make the most of life’s opportunities.

Through life coaching people learn to: identify and deal with limiting beliefs, discover life guiding values and beliefs, experience the power of focussing thoughts words and actions, focus on the present and the future not the past, and develop skills that last a lifetime.

All that is required is willingness to change and commitment to take action.

A life coach will help you achieve your life dreams and goals in much the same way as athletes achieve their goals and dreams through their own strengths and the guidance and support of a great coach.

We have our dreams for a purpose. Each of us has the power within us to achieve those dreams. A life coach will help you recognize the opportunities and possibilities that life presents you and will motivate, guide and support you as you focus on your success.

Most coaches offer a free first session so you can find out more about what to expect before making a commitment.

Look for life coaches working in South Australia in the Yellow Pages under the Training and Development listing and on the net at sites such as www.hartlifecoaching.com.au or, for more information on coaching and how you can arrange a free coaching session, e-mail Triumph Life Coaching at tamaedo@chariot.com.au
